2009 Cadillac XLR-V http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/23/2009-cadillac-xlr-v/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/23/2009-cadillac-xlr-v/#comments Sun, 23 Mar 2008 14:34:32 +0000 LoveDrop http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/23/2009-cadillac-xlr-v/ With an upgraded version of Cadillac XLR, programmed for release in july, it seems that General Motors it’s hardly working on the new project. The prototype was spotted while testing by Brenda Priddy’s spy photographer and frequent Jalopnik contributor Chris Doane.
The camouflage it’s doing a great job covering the details of the new car, but Doane claims the grille is the same wire mesh with the big Cadillac badge that it is expected from the Caddy’s V-Series and the new vertical fender vents ahead of the doors but the spies are guessing it’s a lot like the fender vent on the Provoq concept. XLR is based on the Chevrolet Corvette and the refreshed XLR V-Series gets moderate changes to the front and rear.
2009 Cadillac XLR-V
The “supercharged” logo on the side of new XLR-V makes us wonder what it is hidden under the hood; it could be the carryover 4.4L Northstar V8 that’s supercharged to make 443 horsepower or the same LSA motor getting dropped into the 2009 CTS-V a supercharged 6.2L small-block V8 engine that produces 550 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque.
Caddy’s premium hard-top convertible it is equipped with automatic transmission that is electronically controlled, manual maneuvering without a clutch, Magnetic Ride Control, performance brakes, 19 inch wheels, Intellibeam headlights and much more.

The Hennessey Venom 700NM http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/21/the-hennessey-venom-700nm/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/21/the-hennessey-venom-700nm/#comments Fri, 21 Mar 2008 21:40:56 +0000 admin http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/21/the-hennessey-venom-700nm/ The Hennessey Venom 700NM showed its jet black face at the New York Auto Show. 700NM is a Neiman Marcus special edition, available from April 10 but you have to be fast to buy one because only 7 will be made and they will sell like hot tamales for 175,500 American dollars witch also includes 1 day at the world known Lonestar Motorsports Park driving school.

The Hennessey Venom 700NM

Although we don’t exactly think of a viper when John Hennessey and Neiman Marcus are in the same pot, the Venom 700NM is a more then your usually high performance super car. Declared a world class power car by Hennessey the 700NM is figuratively head of its class with the Dodge Viper SRT-10 engine that offers 700 bhp/522kW 6,200 rpm and 645 lb-ft torque 5,200 rpm witch offers an outstanding 3.3 sec from 0 to 60 mph and 7.0 sec to 100 mph, with a top speed of 214 mph.

On the outside it looks like a normal viper with a few exceptions like the VenomAero Exterior Aerodynamic Upgrades Kit a new lightweight alloy wheel upgrade with19×10 inch wheels in front, 20×13 inches in the rear and a 200 mph tested rear wing. Inside the jet viper has black and red leather appointments, a limited edition dash plaque, embroidered floor mats and matching luggage.

Maybach Exelero http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/20/maybach-exelero/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/20/maybach-exelero/#comments Thu, 20 Mar 2008 08:35:50 +0000 LoveDrop http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/20/maybach-exelero/ The Exelero is the work of four students from the renowned design academy in Pforzheim. Maybach and Fluda teamed up and combined quality of a high-end limousine with the powerful suppleness of a sports coupe. The new high-performance sports car it’s a modern interpretation of the legendary streamlined Maybach sportscar from the 1930s. Fulda is using this car as a reference vehicle to test a new generation of wide tires. Fulda is introducing a new sophisticated high-tech tire to the market. For the most extreme dimension of this tire line, 315/25 ZR 23, licensed for speeds of more than 350 km/h, and that as a series tire, not a racing tire, what was needed was a high-speed vehicle but not a racing car. The astonishing two-seater coupe was unveiled in May 2005 at the Tempodrom in Berlin.
Maybach Exelero
On the long back straight of the track, the Exelero’s aerodynamic qualities are patently obvious. Despite the in-your-face frontal area, front-end lift is well contained. Three manually activated tail spoilers keep the rear planted.
The Excelero it’s equipped with V12 oct-turbo engine from Maybach 57 S. Compared with the standard Maybach 57/62 engine that’s rated at a mere 543 hp, the Exelero has more displacement (up from 5.5 to 5.9 liters), bigger turbochargers, a manlier radiator, and a larger intercooler. The prototype reached a speed of 351 km/h, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes and it is capable of acceleration from 0 to 100 km in 4.4 seconds. Execelero’s engine produces peak power at just 5000 rpm.
Maybach Exelero
All along Maybach Excelero it’s a tweaked Maybach 57 S. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes. Racy new touches like the transmission gate, bespoke neoprene and draft-free air-conditioning were added. While the platform, the suspension, and the fuel tank were taken largely from the sedan, the seats, the steering column, and the pedal box were moved back by 15.7 inches.

Spada Codatronca http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/19/spada-codatronca/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/19/spada-codatronca/#comments Wed, 19 Mar 2008 12:25:14 +0000 LoveDrop http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/19/spada-codatronca/ Spada Codatronca was styled by the Italian design house Spadaconcept, a new design studio founded by Ercole Spada, and is built by another Italian company, UK Garage. With the Codatronca prototype, their goal is to revive the classic Italian sportscar concept, which mixes modern technology with tradition. Spada Codatronca concept is based off a Chevrolet Corvette chassis, with suspension-systems, engine and other mechanicals enhanced by the tuning shop, inspired by the 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ1. The Coda Tronca that means „truncated tail” in Italian, will be unveiled at the upcoming show in Monaco on April 24.
Spada Codatronca
Spadaconcept focused more on aerodynamics, lightness and handling, but still this car has a great acceleration and speed. The base model, Codatronca TS, has a claimed top speed of 330 km/h and sprints from 0 to 100 km in 3.2 seconds. A lighter-weight (1380kg) and more powerful (700hp) TSV track version will also be offered, with a top speed of 355 km/h and a incredible 2.7 second 0-100 km time.

Spada fits twin Rotrex superchargers, dual intercoolers, an eight-quart dry-sump lubrication system, titanium valves and connecting rods, sequential fuel injection and a boosted compression ratio of 11:1. All that nets an impressive 600 hp at 6,300 rpm and 790 Nm of torque at 4,600. The power is channeled through the rear wheels via a short-throw 6-speed manual. The lightweight aluminum spaceframe, fitted with a magnesium roof and composite engine cradle, shaves weight down to 1400 kg. Steering is power-assisted and speed-sensitive with a magnetic variable-effort rack-and-pinion setup, while stopping power is provided by 14-inch front and 13.4-inch rear vented and cross-drilled discs with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers with ABS, surrounded by monster 20-inch rims all around.Spada Codatronca
An unusual feature of the Spada Codatronca, apart from the amazing bodywork, is the digital readout positioned in the centre of the rear spine that displays the car’s current speed.

Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/17/audi-r8-v12-tdi-le-mans/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/17/audi-r8-v12-tdi-le-mans/#comments Mon, 17 Mar 2008 10:37:30 +0000 LoveDrop http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/17/audi-r8-v12-tdi-le-mans/ There it is: the first 12-cylinder diesel engine in a high-performance roadgoing sports car. The V12 TDI Le Mans Concept is virtually identical to the last show car, but is painted “brilliant red” instead of silver.
The design is more aggressive at both front and rear, with more aluminum brightwork - from the unsplit honeycomb grille to trim on the lower fascias and the wedged-out, supercooling version of the R8’s trademark sideblade. Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans
The car features all-LED headlights, which are visually very appealing, not to mention very energy efficient and bright. With a color temperature of 6,000 Kelvin, the light emitted resembles daylight much more closely than xenon or even halogen light. The roof is transparent glass, split by a singular large NACA duct that channels air into the V12’s engine bay, also harking back to a trademark design cue of the 1991 Audi Avus concept car. This R8’s navigation isn’t just for finding truck stops with low sulfur diesel either. It also has track layouts and a lap timer function, as well as real-time data like boost pressure and centrifugal force - both lateral forces and acceleration/braking forces.
Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans
The midengine all-wheel-drive R8 V12 TDI concept gets a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 diesel generating 500 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. It sprints from zero to 100 km in just 4.2 seconds and its top speed is over 300 km/h. The peak torque it’s reached at only 1,750rpm. Thanks to the use of a 2,000-bar common-rail fuel system, piezo injectors, particulate filters in the exhaust and a urea injection system, the diesel-powered supercar complies with Euro 6 emissions standards.
It also features ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers in all four wheels, a bodyshell that weights only 210 kg and many other characteristics that can also be found on the regular R8.

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/13/59/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/13/59/#comments Thu, 13 Mar 2008 20:45:16 +0000 LoveDrop http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/13/59/ This year, at Geneva Auto Show, Alfa Romeo finally showed the production version of the 8C Spider. The new Alfa Romeo car is truly beautiful, powerful and rock solid, where its gracious lines and dimensions gel perfectly with typical Alfa Romeo engineering and drive-ability. Only a limited run of 500 will be made of these V8 machines – most of which are going to important markets like the USA, Italy, Germany and Japan – but could increase if there’s sufficient demand.
Alfa Romeo 8C Spider
The distinctive feature of the 8C Spider is its fold-away dual layer weatherproof roof that is controlled from a dashboard-mounted button inside the car’s carbon fibre cockpit and can be personalized in different colors. The 8C Spider is aero-dynamically similar to the coupe with all the surfaces and profiles of the uprights and windows, together with the form and positioning of the rear-view mirrors, have been optimised using computer models and tests in wind tunnels and real-life environments.
Alfa Romeo 8C Spider
At its heart is the respected Fiat Group family 4.7-litre V8 that makes 450 HP at 7000rpm and 480Nm of torque at 4,750rpm at 8C Competizione. This should give it a 0-100km time of about 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 290 km\h. Sporty as they come, 8C Spider makes use of a 6-speed self-shifter that can be operated via the fingers behind the steering wheel. Specially developed 20-inch tyres ensure grip at most times in conjunction with the VDC traction control system.Housed inside the 20-inch alloys are huge 380mm Brembo ceramic disc brakes on the front and 360mm on the rear.

Zagato reveals the new design for the Bentley Continental GTZ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/03/zagato-reveals-the-new-design-for-the-bentley-continental-gtz/ http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/03/zagato-reveals-the-new-design-for-the-bentley-continental-gtz/#comments Mon, 03 Mar 2008 09:09:02 +0000 admin http://www.sportscarblog.net/2008/03/03/zagato-reveals-the-new-design-for-the-bentley-continental-gtz/ While other car producers release bit-by-bit information about their concept cars in advance of the Geneva Motor Show, the Italian design studio Zagato decided to skip all the teasers and previews and release to the press the full details of its new project all at once. As a matter of fact they haven’t put forward anything about the development of Zagato’s coach built Bentley since the initial report from last December, but the Milanese carrozzeria has made known that they will be presenting the car at the Show that is now only days away.

Back in December Zagato announced that they would be working with Bentley on a new project but failed to talk about which Bentley. Now we know, as we guessed in December it will indeed be the Bentley continental GT Speed. Labeled the ‘GTZ’, the modified Bentley is just the latest in a long history of coach built cars from Zagato including last year’s Diatto Ottovù and previous projects from Ferrari, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Rolls Royce and MG.

Starting from the naturally fast Bentley Continental GT Speed, this Zagato project preserves, from what has been released to the press, the donor car’s considerable mechanics, on top of which the Italians have put a unique looking two-tone coachwork painted in classic British racing green. The GTZ features a hand-shaped aluminium body with pronounced character lines, flared wheel arches and a revised rear end with new taillights. Changes have been made on the interior also, this being fitted with more sumptuous leather and a new centre console.

At the moment this project is only a concept car but depending on the attention it draws and possible orders it receives in Geneva it may eventually end up in limited production. Underneath the hood is the regular GT Speed powertrain, which means 600hp (441kW) and 750Nm (553ft-lb) of torque from a force-fed W12 engine.
